We are pleased to offer Premarital Education for engaged couples.

Did you know that solid, skills-based Premarital Education can reduce the risk of divorce by up to thirty percent and lead to a significantly happier marriage, according to marriage research?

Marriage & Family Works offers a highly effective, research based Premarital Education program, led by our Marriage Coaches.  We prefer that couples contact us 3 months before their wedding date, to get started on their Premarital Education.

Our Premarital Education program addresses:

• Communication and  Problem Solving 
• Finances
• Sensuality and Sexuality in Marriage
• Understanding Power Struggles
• What is the Role of A Husband and A Wife
• Keeping In-laws From being Outlaws
• And much more.

Couples taking our premarital program will meet with trained Premarital Educators.  Programs include Start Smart, Prepare/Enrich and on-line relationship inventory; Before "I Do," and may be supplemented with specific communication tools.  Our Premarital Education program is comprehensive. It is our goal to provide engaged couples with a firm foundation for the future of their relationship.  We prefer to complete the Premarital Education in 6-8 sessions.  A donation of $180 is requested for our Premarital Education services, which includes the cost of materials and on-line inventory.

According to Section 741.0305 Florida Statutes, any couple, if one of both parties is a Florida resident, may take a 4-hour premarital preparation course or wait three (3) days before the marriage license goes into effect.  To receive a wavier of the three-day waiting period, a premarital preparation course must be completed within one year to obtaining a marriage license and a valid certificate of completion must be presented to the Clerk's Office.  Taking the premarital course lowers the standard fee.  Our premarital educators are listed on the Manatee County Clerk's Roster of premarital preparation course providers.
